Inbox Zero
Inbox Zero

The default view of Unibox with a list of all people you exchanged emails with ordered by last message is a great match for most people, expecially for low and medium email volume. But once you reach a certain amount of emails each day that you need to get done with, the default view might not be the best option.

A concept that many people have switched to is called "Inbox zero". It means that you only keep emails in your inbox that still need some action. Once you are done them you archive the message. After you worked off all emails your inbox is empty, i.e. "zero".

Inbox Zero

You can use this concept in Unibox just as well, but it needs a little configuration. We plan to streamline this process in a future update, but for now you need to do the following. first, go to the Advanced preferences and enable the "Hide Unibox group" checkbox. This will remove the remove the "Unibox" group from the view and make the "Received" group the default, at the same time renaming it to "Inbox".

Inbox Zero

By default you will now only see emails that are in your inbox. But it's still easy to show all emails you exchanged with this person. At the bottom in the status line the number of emails is displayed in a format like "1 of 5 messages". You can click on this text to show all 5 messages with 4 of them being in other folders. Click on it a second time to switch back to only show the emails that are in the inbox.

You can also easily show a thread that's associated with a message by clicking on the thread button. This will show the entire thread with emails from all participating people and from all folders.

Inbox Zero

The configuration above is the default setup for Inbox Zero with Unibox. Some people prefer though to see all emails of a person right away when a new email arrives, without the need to click on a button. To configure this go to the Groups preferences and select the "Inbox" group. Add all folders that you would like to be visible in the message list with the "+" button. Be sure that you remove the "Contacts" checkbox, otherwise the contact list will show all people from the selected folders.
